A Prayer for Creation
My first memory of being in a flow state was when making clothes for dolls. I was a seven year old stubborn little girl, upset for having to spend my summers in a remote village of Transylvania. With little choices and far from the big cities of America that I was dreaming of, creating things was my escape. And, a true joy. I remember being in the garden, making tiny clothes from fabric scraps, when time literally stopped, I lost my sense of self and became one with my creation.
Decades later I understand more about the flow state, but still deciphering the mystery of creation. Questions often arise. How do I create with more ease? How do I do the work while being kind to myself? What is the state of mind that brings the best results? Best for whom? How do I find the strength to stop when I’m too involved? How do I distinguish between creating in order to bring ideas to life and creating to prove myself that I’m worthy? How do I make this distinction on days when my energy is low? Does it matter? Yes, it does.
Finding personal answers to questions like these, led me to putting the conclusions into a written form. I’ve created a summary of ideas that I believe in, a personal prayer to help me create an abundant mind & heart space from where I can begin creating.
I’m sharing it here in hopes that it might help others on their path, whether it’s creating art in all its forms or creating a life of one’s choice.
I now relax into being
Into the ever flowing stream of abundance
In confidence that I am fully supported
With loving guidance rushing my way at all times
I rest into the knowing that I am enough
And start exploring from a place of trust
That nothing I create is a reflection of my self worth
But a gift of magic pouring from my heart
I allow myself to take things lightly
Rejoice into a state of wonder
Remember that the child within me
Still knows the recipe for dreaming
I give myself permission to know nothing
Play with the clay of this fertile soil
Trust that nothingness is the womb for creation
From which the original will be born
I begin creating from a place of true interest
Discover that which pulls my heart
Allow the fire of desire guide me
Be the royal mentor of my world
I then go tapping into what feels easy
Trust it as the right next step
Creativity always flows from the easy
And never from the confused heart
Mental structures crumble easily
Stifled by motivations of the outcome
I conjure you, great inspiration
To help me unfold a brand new path
For the power of the one delighted
Can never be compared to the one accomplished
While one can bring true healing in the world
The other one will leave you wanting
